the homosexual nudist

by Kermit Josephs

The number of homosexuals who are members of nudist organizations is apparently not large. It should be larger.

Homosexuals are not barred from membership in nudist organizations

the camps, sunbathing parks, sunshine resorts, and private clubs which operate in the United States to encourage social nudity. Overtly homosexual applicants might possibly be eliminated at the first personal interview with officials of the clubs; but to my knowledge, this has not been the case. Why then is homosexual representation in nudist clubs so small?

Membership Restrictions

Any single woman, with any of her single friends, who can give satisfactory answers to the questions concerning education and moral standing which are included in the standard form of application for membership to most nudist groups, will be welcomed without hesitation by practically every nudist club.

Not so the male. Unmarried men,

one

singly or in pairs, even if superior in intelligence, well educated, or of good appearance, responsible in the business and professional world, and gifted with winning personalities and blameless manners, find the doors of nudist organizations closed to them. There are only a few exceptions to these restrictions on nudist memberships for single men. In some clubs, men are accepted on the basis. of a quota designed to prevent a preponderance of men in the membership. These quotas are due to the fact that the average nudist organization receives a hundred applications from males, single or married, for each application from a woman or from a married or unmarried heterosexual couple.

In a Minority

The obvious result is that the male in a nudist park does not find a large group of men of similar outlook. Nor is he likely to do so until the number of females in the nudist ranks is large enough for the clubs to accept more single men.
